Since the foundation of Fankhauser Karrieremanagement in 2007, we have worked for about 200 customer companies and are a preferred provider for various large companies.

Over the years 2007 – 2024, these are the average results of client support:

  • 97% found a better or comparable job.
  • 80% found the job of their dreams or were able to make a career move.
  • 67% had more or the same wages at the new job.
  • 50% found the job via their network or unsolicited applications.
  • 35% found the job via ads/internet.

We also see a slight trend towards self-employment, where we have our own consulting program.
51 years was the average age of our clients.

We receive very good feedback, references and recommendations, whether it be from our clients or from our contractors.

    Better Job

    Main Aims

96% of our clients secured a position that was equivalent to or even better than their previous role. Their new job matched their potential, needs, and values. 78% achieved a career advancement and/or found their dream job. With this, we have successfully met the core objective of our consultancy and laid the foundation for sustainable professional development.

    Salary

    Material Goal

58% of our clients successfully negotiated a higher salary or at least maintained their previous earnings. 32% consciously opted for a lower income, for example, in favour of a better work-life balance or a career change this also includes those who secured a future salary increase as part of their agreement. 10% had to accept a salary reduction without gaining any advantages in terms of work-life balance. Defining individual career priorities is a key aspect of our consultancy.

    How was the job found?

    How to Reach Your Goal

In 2024, 46% of our clients found their new position through online job postings. LinkedIn, as a job platform, is becoming increasingly important in this context. Spontaneous applications and networking continued to play a significant role, accounting for 28%, but were no longer the dominant job search strategy. Nevertheless, this approach remains promising for accessing the “hidden” job market. In contrast, the route via head-hunters and recruitment agencies was of little relevance to our clients, accounting for only 10%.

    Sectors

Which Industries Do Our Clients Come From?

Our clients primarily come from the pharmaceutical/
chemical, banking and insurance, services, healthcare and consulting sectors, as well as the public sector, non-profit organisations (NPOs), and industry.

To date, we have collaborated with around 200 companies in the Northwestern Switzerland, Zurich, and Bern regions.

    Age Brackets

    Age Distribution of Our Clients

The largest age group among our clients was between 51 and 65 years old, with 58% being over 51. It was particularly encouraging to see that individuals aged 56+ were able to secure a position and in some cases even advance their careers by effectively marketing themselves. This age group proved to be just as successful as those aged 51 to 55.

    Better Job

    Main Aims

96% of our clients found a better or equivalent job compared to their previous one. The new job was better suited to their potential, needs and values. 87% found their dream job or made a career move. We have thus achieved the primary objective of our counselling and laid the foundation for a sustainable solution.

    Salary

    Material Goal

Although there is still a certain shortage of skilled labour, we are seeing continued pressure on salaries in some sectors. Nevertheless, 61% of our clients were able to negotiate a higher salary or maintain their salary. 28% accepted a lower salary in favour of life balance or a lateral move. This also included those who agreed to a future salary increase. 11% had to accept a lower salary without life balance benefits. Recognising personal preferences is an integral part of our consulting services.

    How was the job found?

    How to Reach Your Goal

In 2023, 53% of our clients found their new job via online job adverts, primarily via the LinkedIn platform. With a share of 24%, the method of spontaneous application and networking was no longer the dominant search strategy, but still a promising way to gain access to the "hidden" job market. In addition, it can be seen that the route via headhunters and recruitment agencies had little influence for our clients, with a share of 6%.

    Sectors

Which sectors do our clients come from?

Our clients mainly come from the following sectors: pharma-ceuticals/chemicals, services, public administration, consulting as well as banks and insurance companies. Our well-founded network has enabled us to work for over 180 companies in the region of Northwestern Switzerland, which has benefited our clients.

    Age Brackets

    Age Brackets

The largest age category of our clients was between 51 and 63 years. 63% of our clients were over 50 years old. It was particularly pleasing that people in the 50+ age group found a good job with good "marketing on their own behalf" and increasingly succeeded in taking a career step. In 2023, we were once again able to advise more clients in the age category 56 to 63. We are all the more delighted that this age group is just as successful as the younger ones.

    How to Reach Your Goal

Last year we noticed a trend in the increase of online job adverts, especially on LinkedIn. This route led to the new job for half of our clients. With 36%, spontaneous application and networking no longer represented the most promising search path, the most successful method to date to access the "hidden" job market. In addition, the search route via head-hunters and recruitment agencies, with 6%, still seems to have little significance for our clients.

    How to Reach Your Goal

With 55% the spontaneous application and networking provided the most promising search route to get to the "hidden" job market, followed by 31% with job advertisements that were mostly found "online". Furthermore, it seems that the search route via Head Hunter and recruiters loses importance for our clients with 5%.

    New Industry

    Which were the Target Industries

When signing a new contract, our clients opted especially
for the sectors Pharma/Chemistry, Services, Commerce, Public Administration, Consulting, Industry and for Banks/Insurances. Our broad network enables the job search to be extended to other sectors.

We are all the more pleased that this age group is just as successful as the younger ones.

With 42% Networking and spontaneous applications were the most promising search methods. Head hunters and job placement agencies were only of minor importance at 4%.
